"Allison's all about that sort of thing, but it really seems more in the family for her." Lydia points out.

"Maybe." Another day, he might ask if she thought that was weird. "Is there anywhere else you'd rather go?"

"I don't want to think." she reminds him gently. "I just want to trust you. Is that scary?"

[useofcuriosity]

"No, it's not scary. Does it scare you?"

[lefthandedgenius]

She shakes her head. "I think most guys would find it scary, though. Just not you."

[useofcuriosity]

"I'm not most guys, though."

[lefthandedgenius]

"True." Lydia looks out the window. There's something that remains sad about her eyes, even if there's a brief smile that touches her lips. "I'm still deciding if I like that or it's kind of a pain."

"Oh, I'm sure I'm a pain." He smiles at her, and finally pulls into the high school parking lot.

"Maybe it's both." She's studying him curiously. When he opens the door for her, her expression is thoughtful as she presses her lips together. "Can I ask you a thoroughly inappropriate question that bears no direct relevance on the fact that I'm freaking out about the first time someone's died on my table?"

He pauses, leaning on the car and watching her. "Sure. You can ask whatever you want."

"Why haven't you tried to get anywhere with me yet?" She seems genuinely puzzled by that. And it does seem out of left field, given what happened earlier today. Or maybe not so much, considering the need for contact and comfort.

"Kind of hard to be a different sort of guy if I'm trying to paw at you all the time." He's not, for instance, Aiden. "Do you want that?"

"Not pawing." she says, making a face. "And not all the time."

"Now?" Because he honestly can't imagine why else she'd ask.

[lefthandedgenius]

She struggles for a moment, but not to answer the question. More to explain herself. "I want...contact." Even if it's just being held. "I've never had to explain this sort of thing before." It's a little awkward for her. She doesn't know how to ask to be held.

He thinks about this, and then closes her door. Not to be rude or anything, because he's coming back around to his side and getting back in. Wordlessly, holding out his hand to her.

Well, she's baffled. But she trusts him, so she puts her hand in his, curling her fingers over his palm.

He tugs her hand gently, pulling her closer for what is probably a very awkward hug.

Yes. Awkward hug is awkward. But also welcome. With her head cradled on his shoulder, she inform him quite seriously, "I think you should take advantage of my emotional vulnerability."

"Yeah?" Looking at her carefully. And sooo seriously.

[lefthandedgenius]

"Yeah." She glances at him through her lashes. "But um, maybe not in the jeep."

"Well, no. I'm classy." Sure, Stiles. "Where?"

[lefthandedgenius]

"My place? Your place?" She shrugs one-shouldered. Until he decides to start the engine, she remains leaning against him.

[useofcuriosity]

"My place is fine." And clean, somehow.

[lefthandedgenius]

She tilts her head to look up at his face. Sometimes it's hard to tell what Stiles is thinking, and more often than not it surprises her. "I'd ask if you're sure, but there doesn't seem to be a need to do so." She's not talking about the issue of who's place, of course.
