The Nogitsune, the foxes of the void, they're not born that way. No, they're made into it. By wishes for freedom or by the actions that they take. Fighting the status quo, not wishing to worship Inari or anything or anyone else. But that's what the kitsune do. It's what they are.

And so they're cast out of skulk, out into the void and the empty and the lands of the unwanted and out of the wilds and the fields. Cast out and into loneliness and despair. The void, it feeds off them, and in turn they feed off of chaos and misery and strife. Off of pain. Searching for...something.

The kitsune live in the world, they can take their own human form. They live in civilization now, they have children and when they perform mischievous deeds they aren't frowned upon. It's taken as a way to shine a light on someone's ego or help someone onto the right path. They're given tokens and tributes and love.

Sometimes.

The Nogitsune can't even keep their own names. Names are power. Names are power over them, and they give false names. The one that lives in Stiles, in Beacon Hills and now New Dodge allows them to call him Sheridan. Thomas. Stiles. Nothing else. Nothing else.

The Nogitsune live in the void, unless they can find a host and when they find a host they hold onto it. To cause a little chaos, a little pain, a little strife. To ease the loneliness, to ease the despair. To create skulk, family or to fulfil a pact. To shake loose from the void.

A Nogitsune with a broken pact is a dangerous and awful thing. A broken monster, to some. To themselves. It can't be sated. It can be starved. It can be changed. For better or for worse.

Something has changed in the Nogitsune of New Dodge, but he would never voice it and he would fight even thinking it. Something has changed, He tried to save Scott McCall. He tried to save Chase Collins.  He's made pacts and promises. He's developed thought and feeling beyond ravenous hunger and insatiable desire for chaos and pain.

He's found love, and he doesn't want to lose it.

He thinks that he's gathering skulk. He thinks that if Stiles and Lydia had a child, it would be partly his. He isn't certain what he thinks of that. He isn't certain that he dislikes the idea of that.

But there's his game. His game. And he can't lose his game. But there are turns and twists that he wasn't expecting, and the Nogitsune is starting to see that there are many forms of chaos.
