The weirdest part about leaving New Dodge wasn't going home with Stiles or Tori. They were the people she belonged with, her goofy boyfriend and their precious almost one year old daughter.

No, the weird part was apparently Eli'd made sure there was a way for Charlie to have a normal life. Apparently someone there owed him and Charlie found herself with a really good job as co-manager of a local coffee shop. And she found herself with a social security number that she could use without worry.

But Charlie settled in soon enough to a routine and god bless it because it got her and Stiles and Tori an alright apartment. And even after the weirdness that is discovering he was suddenly a grandfather, Stiles' dad took to Tori better than expected.

Now, six months later on a day off, Charlie sat under an umbrella on the beach, watching her daughter with a smile on her face. Tori sat nearby with a small bucket and pail, doing her best to get sand in the bucket and growing frustrated while it got everywhere and Stiles? He'd wandered off to get them food.

This was pretty much perfect.

Wandered off to get him food, and eventually wandered back. With food. Successful mission! "Having fun?" he asked Charlie, watching Tori play with the sand. He could remember doing the same thing with his own parents.

"Oh, yeah. I think she might be set to flip the bucket over and yell at it, but we're having a blast." Charlie looks up at Stiles and grins. Tori, recognizing her fathers voice, immediately abandons her project and stands.

She hasn't started walking yet. Standing, she can do like a boss. Walking without help? Not so much. But, she reaches out to her father, saying 'dah' over and over. And...one foot up, one wobbly step. Another. OVERBALANCING OH GOD!!

"Who can blame her? Sand is rude?" He holds his hands out for Tori to grab if she needs them. "Right, sweetie? Awful, awful sand."

Tori instantly babbles back, matching his tone as she grabs her hands. Yes, dad. She agrees. And she wants to be held so she's now trying to actually climb into his arms. Charlie's watching this with a grin on her face.

"She ate some while you were gone." That's...going to be interesting later. "And then got into a fight with the bucket. She won." Charlie leans her shoulder against Stiles.

"What food did you bring?"

"Chicken salad, curly fries, fruit salad, grilled cheese and cake." He grins at her. Of course cake. He helps Tori climb up.

Charlie's amused, eyes widening just a bit as she laughs some. Tori's immediately reaching the cake, shrieking loudly. Quickly, Charlie picks a piece of melon from the fruit salad and stuffs it in the baby's hands. This is inspected carefully before Tori looks up at her father as if to say "Did you see what she just did?" But the melon works. She starts eating it and has forgotten about the cake.

"You certainly went all out. I was gonna do something big for dinner, but I think we'll all be pretty full from just this."

Stiles laughs about the melon, and then has a piece himself. "What were you going to do?"

"Our hotel room has a kitchen and there's an open air market down the street. I was going to see what was there and come up with something. It was possibly going to be ribs with home made barbeque sauce."

In Charlie's time in New Dodge, partly because of Tori, she got over her unfortunate association with the scent of cooked meat and the scent of...flash fried people.

"We could still do that." As if the Stilinski's aren't big eaters. Come on now.

She's used to it. Even tiny Tori eats like a horse. That melon piece is gone and she's now stuffing a handful of chicken salad in her face. Charlie takes one look at this and sighs.

"So...game plan. Another bath for her," she says because Tori upended her cheerios and milk on herself this morning. "Dress her in something comfortable, put her in her stroller and head to the market? She'll take a nap for most of the afternoon."

Tori is just like her dad with the face stuffing. He catches himself doing this with curly fries and stops, at least. "Sounds like a good plan."

Charlie doesn't see this until she looks up from trying to find one of the baby forks she packed for Tori. When she does, when she gets one look at the pair of them with food hanging out of their mouths, she starts laughing.

"Oh, my God. She is definitely your kid." She leans forward, kissing Stiles on the cheek and Tori on the head. "And I love the both of you."

"Good, because I love you too." More food? More food. Forks be damned.

Tori has the same thought process. Forks are dumb and should...probably go too close to her eye before Mom grabs it.

"So..let's see. A good, long while ago when we started dating, did you see any of this happening?" The kid. Ridding themselves of the Nogitsune. Ending up in Beacon Hills. All of it.

"I did not. Did you?" He'd be a bit surprised.
