"Next time, tell me to man up and take the giant horse pill sedative." Letting out a slow breath. "What books did you even bring?"

She hmms, her gaze straying to the littl stack of three paperbacks.

"Something with Luke Skywalker on the cover, Ender's Game, and...what's Battle Royale?"

"Well, unlike what Scott might try to tell you, it's not 'just the Hunger Games'. You might like it."

"I'll look it over." she says thoughtfully. "It'll give me something to do when you're snoring too loud while drooling on your pillow. Five minutes. Almost there."

Relief? Relief. But also a lot more nervous. "Hey, I don't drool. That much."

"Sometimes I wake up and I think I'm in a wading pool, except you're not wearing your floaties." Her tone remains teasing. Let her distract you, Stiles!

"Three minutes." she says after a few moments of silence. "The rest is cake. The bed should be sliding out shortly."

"That's because I don't need floaties. I could float in a pool for hours without floaties, thank you very much." He will gladly let her distract him. "Ooh. Cake. Can we get cake?"

"We can get cake. The kind from that video game that you like that makes me dizzy every time you play it, even."

And then it's done, and the bed panel is sliding out from the machine. Even as it's retracting, Lydia is getting up from her chair and going into the MRI room proper, so she's there when he's ready to sit up.

"Black Forest cake? I'm spoiled." He takes a minute to get used to being outside of the MRI again before sitting up. Slowly and carefully. He's not sure if he should ask her if they saw anything. Or if they'd really even know by now.

She didn't look. She didn't look on purpose, and it won't be until the next day that they find out anything. "You want to change in the exam room, or take a stroll back to the locker room?" she asks, adding, "I don't know if I'll be able to restrain myself if somebody tries to grab your ass." She makes a very bad pair of mock fisticuffs.

That gets a tiny bit of a laugh before he thinks about it for a moment, then looks at her. "Exam room?" Quicker, he thinks. Plus he's pretty sure his head is going to explode in a held back panic attack any minute now.

"Okay." She leads him out, with a nod to the tech and the attending. The exam room's just across the hall, and she closes the door behind them both. His clothes are right where he left them.

"That wasn't so bad, was it?"

The second she closes the door, his heart is pounding like crazy in his chest. His fingers and his palms are tingling and he's pretty sure he's swaying on his feet. Enough that when he makes it over to the exam table, he just sort of completely misses sitting down on it. Well. The floor is nice too. "Y-y-yeah. It was fine."

She blinks in absolute startlement. "Stiles?"

She's immediately on her knees next to him. "Are you okay? Are you having a panic attack?" It's different for different people, so asking is important.

If he speaks, he's going to stutter all over the damn place, he knows it. So he just...doesn't. He's having a hard enough time getting in a breath, and he knows this is going to freak her out more than it's freaking him out. And he's the one having the panic attack. He nods, focusing on the floor. On the cold. On her shoes. Anything but the MRI.

"Look at me, just look at me. It's okay. It's over. Look at me, shh." She takes his hands, squeezes them. "I'm right here. You're okay. We're okay. Can you slow your breathing?"

His breathing's just as fast as his heartbeat is at the moment, but he tries. Squeezes her hands in return, and really tries. "I don't...I can't."

she's gonna have to do the thing, isn't she? You know, the thing.

She presses her hands to his face, tilting it so he can look at her. Her mind is racing as she tries to remember the various means by which a panic attack can be suppressed.

Suddenly she wraps herself around him, arms, legs, she's like a monkey as she hugs him tightly. She remembers reading that medical journal article by...what was her name? Dr. Dixon? Close contact can help alleviate a panic attack.

Medical journals he's going to need to read because he had no idea. It's certainly helping him, just a little bit at first. Even if he's a little startled. "What...what are you-?"

"Continuous evenly applied pressure with close personal contact can actually alleviate a panic attack." she says, adding, "I read it in a medical journal. Also - " she doesn't finish, instead she kisses him, quite suddenly.

It certainly startles him, though it's not as if she's never kissed him before. But. Circumstances and such. His breath catches, and his eyes widen a bit. But he can breathe, once she pulls back.

"Better?" she asks. She's still more or less latched onto him, arms and legs coiled around his torso, there on the cold floor. He's still got his exam tunic on and she's in a miniskirt, which may be more evident when she tells him tenderly, "Because my butt is cold."

"Better." And a snort of a laugh. "Guess we should get up, then."

She gets up on her feet, holding her hands out to him to help him up if he likes. "Home?" she suggests. "I'm experiencing this extremely strange urge to cater to you for the afternoon and I haven't decided if it's charming or disturbing."

"Home sounds great." He lets out his breath, and takes her hands for help up. "Maybe it's both?"
